Volleyball has a win versus Bethel

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

On Tuesday, 4/21/09, the Ladies Volleyball Team defeated the Bethel Lady Swordsmen in a 3 set match.  Coach Andrews was able to substitute in all of the players, as the first string was successful in building up an appropriate lead.  Even with the newer players, the play was great, everyone learning and executing their positions.  Serves were made in by all, it was really nice to watch how the new players matured over the season.

That leaves the tournament on this Saturday, 4/25/09 at Mare Island.  The top seed this year is is the team from Arlington, who had an undefeated season.  This should be a good tournament, after Arlington, the next three teams including BBCA have identical or nearly identical won/loss records, so the play should be good.  As a league, the teams seem to have improved their game skillls and made for a competitive environment.

Good Luck to the Crusaders!!

Volleyball…Oh So Close!

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

The volleyball team went on the road again to play the Eagles of Calvary Baptist in Fairfield.  As usual in Fairfield, we played in the sun, with the wind blowing.  But we’ll do our best anytime, anywhere.  The first game went to the Eagles, and the second to the Crusaders.  The third game went back to the Eagles, and the fourth to the Crusaders.  This meant we had to play the all important game 5, which only goes to 15 points.  It was a tight game, but the Eagles finally bested us in a 15-12 win, giving them the match.  That makes our record 5 and 3.  Once again we’ll be on the road playing the Hopewell Huskies next Tuesday, March 31.
